Sunday Worship
Each Sunday we offer a service of Holy Communion as well as another type of service.
We welcome children at all our services and ensure that there will always be relevant activities for them to join in with as well as a play area with quiet toys and drawing materials.
We are developing new opportunities to worship in more flexible and informal ways, although these do not run every month.
You can keep in touch with all our services and activities by subscribing to our weekly enews.
Hinton Blewett has a programme of services and activities spread throughout the year – including: Easter Saturday activities, Crib and Candle on Christmas Eve and Harvest all-age service. Also at least one Holy Communion and one evensong on the United Parish rota.
At festival times such as Christmas and Easter there will be a revised schedule to enable extra special events and seasonal services.
Service Schedule
General things to bear in mind:
Our villages have limited places to park. If you are driving, please allow time to park and walk to the church. Please avoid blocking driveways.
Not all of our churches have loos! Those that do are Blagdon, Charterhouse, Compton Martin and Ubley.
There will usually be an opportunity for you to part with some money, in support of the life and work of our churches. We accept cash everywhere. Blagdon, Compton Martin, East Harptree and Ubley also have card readers.
Our services
Below you will find a little detail as to what to expect at each of our different types of service:.

Holy Communion
We follow the Common Worship liturgy of the Church of England, some of which may be sung. The service will include singing of hymns and worship songs, Bible readings, prayers, a sermon and the opportunity to receive bread and wine or come for a blessing. Services in East and West Harptree will usually have a robed choir. The service will last about one hour. Refreshments will usually be served after the service. Please stay and chat if you can.

Morning Worship
This service has a simple format to allow for greater flexibility. There will be hymns and songs, a bible reading, prayers and a sermon. The service is more informal than Holy Communion and may follow a particular theme or celebration,
e.g. Christian Aid or Mother’s Day. The service will last about 50 minutes. Refreshments will usually be served after the service. Please stay and chat if you can.

Choral Evensong
This is a service from the Book of Common Prayer. A robed choir will sing Canticles and Psalms. The language is traditional. The service will last 30-40 minutes.
