About the event
The Churches of Chew Valley south are honoured to be a stopping place for the Spirit of Francis Pilgrimage - a remarkable journey inspired by St Francis of Assisi and his message of peace, reconciliation, humility and care for creation.
At a time of division, inequality and conflict, St Francis reminds us that change can begin with kindness, humility and turning back towards love. It is a message that speaks to everyone, whatever their age or faith.
The pilgrimage arrives at St Michael’s in Compton Martin on Friday 4th September, with an evening service at 5.00pm. On Saturday 5th September, villagers are warmly invited to join the pilgrims walking to Wells, departing at 8.30am. You can join for the whole walk or part of the journey, including the lunch stop at Stockhill Woods car park (meet at 11.45am).
You can also take part from home through prayer and lighting a candle.
